the simplest and cleanest in terms of flavor. It's definitely a great choice if you're watching your diet


  • 6 ounces skinless salmon fillet
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Peppercorns to taste
  • 1 lemon sliced
  • Fresh thyme


  • Fill a pan with enough water to submerge a fillet. Bring the water to a simmer.
  • Add salt, peppercorns, sliced lemon, and thyme to water.
  • Add salmon, cover the pan, and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Remove salmon from pan, and season with salt, pepper, and fresh lemon.

    We’ve been doing salmon for many years and this was the first time I tried poaching. It was great. Baking with dill/dijon was fine and pan-frying with cajun spices (blackened) was also tasty, but doing the poached recipe resulted with a moist salmon was really nice.
